Criminal Court has scheduled Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed and Justice Ali Hameed’s hearing for Saturday.
Saturday’s hearing, scheduled for 10:00 a.m. is regarding the charges pressed against the two justices for influencing official duties. Since the hearing is scheduled for Saturday, it is the only hearing that will be carried out at Criminal Court.
While a hearing on the case was also held on Thursday, the hearings are being carried out as closed-hearings. However Criminal Court did not close the reason for it.
According to the defense attorneys, the court has decided not to accept any necessary documents from the two justices prior to the trial on the said charge.
Chief Justice’s lawyer Hisaan Hussain said Friday’s hearing was held without informing the lawyers. Hisaan said they came to know about the hearing on Friday night. However the chit for Saturday’s hearing has been sent to us, Hisaan said.
While the two justices’ hearings are being rushed, another hearing has already been scheduled for Sunday. The hearing on the obstruction of official duty charge for the Chief Justice has been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, while the hearing on terrorism charge for Justice Ali Hameed has also been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on the same day.
