Former Chairperson of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Ali Waheed, who recently joined Jumhooree Party (JP), has been appointed as party leader Qasim Ibrahim’s political advisor.
Qasim announced the appointment at a special ceremony of JP at Frankfurt, Germany on Sunday night. With the new appointment, Qasim’s political advisors are former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed and Ali Waheed.
Congratulating Ali Waheed on joining JP, Qasim tweeted that it brought a new hope for the party and said that there is no doubt that as his political advisor, Ali Waheed would strengthen the party.
Along with Ali Waheed, three members of MDP’s national committee also joined JP.
Former state minister of transport ministry and MDP’s South Kulhudhuffushi constituency president Hassan Sujaau, MDP’s national committee Thulusdhoo constituency president and famous footballer Assad Ali, and MDP’s national committee Mathiveri constituency president Mohamed Sameer all joined JP during the ceremony held at Frankfurt on Sunday.
Furthermore, AA. Atoll council’s former vice president Ali Sameer, and MDP member Mohamed Shaffaaz also joined the party alongside Ali Waheed.
Speaking at the ceremony Ali Waheed said he will work with Qasim to pull out oppression from the very roots. The party will also increase its events, rallies and trips, he said.
